FAQ

A Mylar light shade is a type of window covering made from a reflective, metallic material (Mylar) that helps block UV rays and reduce heat gain. It offers energy efficiency, glare reduction, and privacy while maintaining light transmission.

To clean Mylar shades, dust them regularly with a soft cloth or vacuum with a brush attachment. For stains, gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or soaking the material to prevent damage.

To repair a seam on a Mylar roller shade, use fabric adhesive or a strong bonding tape designed for Mylar. Apply adhesive carefully to the seam, press it together, and allow it to dry. For a cleaner finish, sew the seam if possible.

To make solar Mylar shades, cut Mylar film to fit your window size, then attach the film to a roller or mounting frame. Ensure the reflective side faces outward for maximum sun protection, and secure the shade with brackets.

Typically, one layer of Mylar is sufficient for solar shades, as its reflective surface helps block UV rays and reduce heat. However, depending on the level of insulation or light control needed, additional layers can be added for extra effectiveness.
