I really wanted to hang up lights above my bed, but my bed is under a window framed with curtains. Can I hang Christmas lights on my curtains, or is it a bad idea? Thanks!

Depends on what the curtains are made of and what kind of lights you are going to use. Try it wait an hour and see if the material is getting hot. If you are using led lights then you should be ok. Rivers is clueless, the wires touching the fabric is not a safety or fire hazard. As all such light must be UL listed and so labeled as safe. The wire would be touch some part of a tree and if that was a fire hazard you wouldn’t be able to put them on a tree.
